I am interested in explainable intelligent systems that can be understood, diagnosed and managed by non-expert users. As part of my research I develop techniques to provide natural language interfaces to large knowledge bases, using a mix of semantic, reasoning and machine learning methods. I am particularly interested in systems that can be used by communities of users, and I adopt crowdsourcing approaches both to evaluate such systems, and as a mechanism for deployment. I am currently involved in the ASSET project, where I research automated ways to manage health and safety policies in hazardous workplaces using sensor data.
